Biography
Born 1944, Bradford.
John Myers lives in Stourbridge, UK
John Myers studied Fine Art under Richard Hamilton with a particular eye on Sculpture. He came to photography in 1972, turning his lens on the people and places in his native Stourbridge and surrounding places in the Midlands. He took around 1800 images in the ensuing decade, ceasing his photographic work entirely in around 1985.John’s photographs have a distinctly British feel, deadpan and unencumbered by hidden meaning, and yet as a body of work they reveal something about the 1970s British soul, a way of seeing the world through photography which is now rightly taking its place in British photographic tradition and wider visual culture.
